Face Planting into February

Life Long Learner, seriously? Waking up again.

When I was in college about 10-15 years ago, I used to say I was proud to be a life-long learner as part of becoming a K12 educator. Nowadays, I feel that I’ve done so plenty, but normally for the sake of others. All those recertification courses over the years taught me how to be there for others, but rarely did they also remind us teachers to take the techniques we were learning and applying them to ourselves.

And wow, did that wolf come back to bite me hard this last week. So many things are not quite out of resonance with who I am and where I am headed, but I know that this is a time of change. With the tower, it is either like Tetris or Jenga. Sometimes the change is four levels of epic in the right direction, but to get there, you have to take all of these out of sync choices first. Obviously, I’m talking Tetris here. On the other hand, things need to completely fall like Jenga, and you have to rebuild with what was left behind of a more conscientious strategy.

Changes aren’t ahead. They’re here, basically. They all hit at once. I had to make some choices this week, and some were not ones I wanted to make. Sometimes, life forces us to go in a direction we’ve been resisting for sometime—you clear four levels or the blocks scatter—and that happened this week. Things I had been considering for months were no longer contemplations. The fork in the road was very much unavoidable. With that being said, I won’t discuss the negatives of the week more than I’ve eluded to them. Tis the week of Imbolc, and we should celebrate the spring to come and not the dead of winter boring down us.

Starting February 6, 2024—YES that soon—I am changing the schedule around and the content around on my YouTube channel drastically. What does that mean for my sprinting schedule? Mel Power of Power Play Press and I are switching a few days around by the end of the month, plus I am adding a day. You’ll see what I mean in my January wrap up vlog that’s going out later this week. I’m a little behind on vlogs right now in part because #animetaughtme, my Soul Care Challenge, and workshops are all going on this month—which made me realize maybe some things are outgrowing the direction my first channel is going. Cody and I are already making Replaying the Plot, our video game podcast about the plots of video games we know and adore across time, into a proper gaming channel this year. If I intend to do this full-time without a day job, I might as well make all the directional changes RIGHT MEOW. Speaking of some of my favorite YouTubers…

I was accepted to attend the Conscious Business Accelerator by Mat Shaffer, Victor Oddo, and Aaron Doughty alongside Mel Power and Jodee Jean Daniels. Mel and I attended the Conscious Coaching Accelerator last September that these gentlemen created—and you saw the huge pivot the two of us made in our businesses since. We’re picking up our other business bestie and taking her along for the ride. You’re going to see so many epic things out of them and me in the coming months—so please give them both a follow? Alongside the courses we take together that Sarra Cannon creates? There’s a lot of good coming from all three of us in the next year.
