A handful of chapters. A final readthrough. Ream Stories. Kickstarter. Amazon. Wide.
I cannot believe how effective the Rebrand Relaunch Revolution has been.
I have learned so much about the characters and the greater world of The Merna Annals. Not only am I stronger writer, editor, and coach, but I am also changing so much about myself that was and is toxic. Namely my Virgoan perfectionism.
In the pursuit of our creative endeavors, there's a mantra that we often overlook: "Done is better than perfect." This simple yet profound philosophy can be a game-changer for writers and readers alike. The quest for perfection can stifle creativity, hinder progress, and prevent the world from experiencing our unique voices. By releasing the old mindset of unattainable perfection, we open ourselves to the profound beauty of completion, and with it, the endless possibilities that beginnings out of endings bring.
For writers, the fear of imperfection can be paralyzing. It’s easy to get caught up in endless revisions, striving to polish every sentence to a mirror-like shine. But in doing so, we risk never sharing our stories with the world. Embracing "done" allows us to move forward, to learn and grow with each project. It’s in the act of completing one piece that we lay the groundwork for the next. Each ending becomes a new beginning, a fresh start where we can apply lessons learned and continue to hone our craft.
Readers, too, can benefit from this mindset. How often do we hesitate to start a new book, a new chapter in life, because we’re waiting for the perfect moment? By letting go of this need for perfection, we open ourselves to new experiences and adventures. Every book finished, every page turned, marks the end of one journey and the beginning of another. In this way, we continuously evolve, finding new insights and inspirations in every ending.
So, let’s embrace the power of "done." Let’s celebrate the completion of our projects, our stories, our journeys, knowing that each ending is but a new beginning. By releasing the old mindset of perfection, we free ourselves to create, to explore, and to grow.
This is a large part of the reason why I am more excited than ever to place these books in the hands of readers. As musician and songwriter Charlotte Wessels recently said about releasing her newest album, putting out new things into the world is scary. At the same time, I am more excited than ever to share the future ahead with all of you.
There’s several videos coming out on my YouTube channel that will prove those effects in the coming weeks.
