Why does our voice matter?
So many of us live with a sense of repression. Oppression. Depression. Self-doubt.
Maybe that is why Harumi and Frey are who they are in The Merna Annals? Representations of what could hold us back, regardless of our genders or kindnesses or paths in life. I know its one of the reasons why those two are so close to one another, and it is why Harumi trusts Frey so much in the end of Book 5: Bound by Lyric and Time to take on the responsibilities she leaves for him.
I think I know why I leaned into my love of a writing as a child more so than my love of singing. I never really thought about it recently until it came up in some journaling. I was born through an emergency c-section due to my arm being locked over my head (of course, my favorite way to sleep now), which also locked the cord around my neck. Uh-huh. Every time mom pushed, I couldn’t breathe. Go figure, I have all the allergy, sinus, and asthma issues I do. The emergency surgery wasn’t something I remembered throughout my entire life.
Is that moment at birth why I’ve had many of my issues with confidence and upholding my own voice? At first, I chuckled when I journaled this question. The longer I looked at it, that laughter became anger. Then tears. I’ve been fighting to be heard since birth. Up until now.
The pentalogy is complete. The Merna Annals, Season 1. All five books sit on Ream Stories. The ending to these five videos is largely a beginning to a life where I have prioritized my voice.
This is why I think so many authors and creatives connect with their first few books deeper than others.
As The Merna Annals reaches its conclusion, I can't help but feel a profound sense of accomplishment and liberation. This series isn't just a collection of stories; it's a testament to my journey of self-discovery and empowerment. Through every twist and turn, Harumi and Frey's adventures have mirrored my own path to finding and embracing my voice. And now, as the pentalogy sits proudly on Ream Stories, I can look back and see not just the characters' growth, but my own.
I think this is why I am also enjoying planning and launching the second Kickstarter. There’s going to be a huge livestream the day of launch. I’m trying to gather as many friends to participate as possible. Would you want to join us then, too? Between now and then, though, let’s enjoy a replay of this video and the steps ahead.
Thank you for being part of this incredible journey. Your support and encouragement have meant more than words can say. As we close this chapter, I am excited to see where our voices will take us next. Whether you are an avid reader, a fellow creative, or someone searching for their own voice, remember that your story matters. Let it be heard.
Take care of yourself,
Your Soul Writer,
